Millionaire raffle winner “had a feeling” he would win

Paul Gamber had a hunch.

“It’s something that I always knew would happen to me. I’ve always had this belief something good would happen for me with the lottery,” he said, after picking up his check for one million dollars at the Pittsburgh-area deli where he bought the ticket.

Gamber has won smaller prizes several times, but this is the first time he has hit it big.  “I always play the lottery,” he commented.

The winning ticket was purchased for $20.

Ask Evelyn Adams how great it was to win the lottery.  She won’t give it a strong endorsement.

“Winning the lottery isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be,” Adams comments.  “I won the American dream but I lost it, too. It was a very hard fall. It’s called rock bottom.”

Grandmother wins lottery after playing for 21 years straight

Actually she is a great-grandmother, and she has not missed a lottery play since the New Zealand Lotto began in 1987.  She even made sure she had her tickets when she went away on vacation.

21 years of playing every single drawing has finally paid off for this lucky woman, who wishes to remain anonymous.  This week she won a quarter share of First Divison, which is worth $250,806.

She has won several small amounts in previous draws, but never anything close to this big.

Man checks ticket 3 different ways before believing he won

Steve Wilson of Mount Holly, North Carolina couldn’t believe it.  No, really – he couldn’t believe it.

Wednesday night he saw the winning numbers show up on his television screen while watching the news.  He also read the numbers in the newspaper the next day.  He still wasn’t convinced.

Finally, he logged on to the NC Lottery website and read those same numbers.  Yes, they were the numbers on his ticket.  And his ticket was worth $600,000.

Normally, those numbers would be worth only (only) $200,000.
